Hi from Cincy OH,
Great site...Applause

just got a 1966 BigM 26' single 318.
Followed me home from L'ville KY where it was built.
They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
It sure seems big for 26'

Was planning to bring it home by river but plans changed.
Day after I got it, the Markland Dam's main chamber door fell off.
Got to drive downriver 6 miles from Harrods Creek to a public landing,
loaded it on the trailer and
made it to my driveway, pulled it with my half ton PU...
I think the trailer weighs as much as the boat.

the inside's in good shape for her age...

has my favorite wheel ...

Too bad it's almost time to winterize it.Boo hoo!
Looking forward to being aboard.
Cheers!

Sweet. I particularly like the very neat and professional looking engine control panel. I am guessing that it was not stock. Welcome to the forum.

When people tell me,"Why you got an aluminum boat?" I tell them about boats like yours. Damn few f-glass boats of that age are in sound condition, mainly through wood rotted stringers, transoms, etc.

Welcome to the site.

I like the shore power plug-in, through the spokes of the helm wheel. That sure would keep one from taking off with shore power still plugged in! Not that I've ever done that!

Ah-hem! The "Admiral" caught my boob move just in time or I'd never live it down.

Can't believe how many people don't turn off the main AC breaker when plugging/ unplugging the shore power cord. Fries the end of the cord and the outlet--and neither is cheap to replace.

Thanks again for the Welcomes...

Dave, that sounds like a good trip, glad you got through Markland so fast, I figured they were backed up with commercial traffic for weeks. When I was a deckhand for MG Transports we would have to wait 3 days average to get through Gallopolis lock. Kanawha River locks only hold one barge and you had to bust tow alot but Charleston WV was a beautiful site at night.

Computerjoe, I wasn't 100% sure so went out and measured, it's 26' not including the swim platform...maybe the pic adds a few feet like TV adds 10 pounds...

Jim, It's the original floor if that's Nautilex?, there's a small soft spot on the rear deck that needs fixed.

Our Marinettes will skyrocket in value if Barrett-Jackson starts auctioning off boats...

Welcome to BigM country. We pull our 28' Express with a 1/2 ton Chevy 4X4 crew cab with Timbrin suspension enhancement. Trailer has electric brakes on all 4 wheels. Had her weighed at the truck stop...7,700# on the hitch. Don't really know the tounge weight.

Huck,
The Kanawha River Locks at Winfield and Marmet have been both been replaced, now they take three barges wide and total length of 160' (or 180', I forget). Have taken several trips this year through the locks and an hour wait happened only once.

I was also questioning the length of your new boat. I was looking at the picture trying to find where they took out 2'. It looks just like my 28 inside and out. It looks in great shape for any age. Enjoy.

Welcome to the site.

Nice you will enjoy. The Markland locks screwed up a trip to Louisville this fall for us. Where are you going to dock in Cinti. We are at RIVERSIDE in Dayton KY.
