Does anyone know where I can get a new gasket for the forward hatch on a 28?

Bomar has the gasket material. You can order from their website, but its a ridiculous price per foot.
I took my forward hatch off this fall and brought it home.
There is a rubber place in Cleveland that hopefully has something that will suffice. Will take the hatch to them and see what they say.
Currently I have no gasket on the hatch as I ripped it all off last year and tried to use some crap from the auto store. Big mistake!

Contacted that rubber place in Cleveland. They have nothing. They only fulfill large, bulk orders for companies.

I have to find something or else epoxy the the thing and never open it again. Think

If there was somewhere to buy O-ring stock. I think 3/8" would work. Could glue it into concave hatch lip.

You can get actual 0-ring stock at McMaster.com, look at their Part Number: 96505K27 for silicone, which works best around salt water.

The problem is that O-rings are hard, and the hatch is not precision enough to have a constant gap around the seal. You might prefer something in neoprene foam rubber, such as Part Number: 8466K123.

I know this sounds crazy, but I have had good luck finding closed cell EPDM weatherstripping at Lowe's. Most of their stuff in not online, you have to go look. I think http://www.lowes.com/low...81-02311&lpage=none might work.

Ok. I'm giving in.

Going to order 7' of hatch gasket from BOMAR at $5.00/ft.

Also found out they recommend replacing the tinted plexi glass every 8-10 yrs.
I say phooey on that.
I used my buffing wheel and some very fine rubbing compound to clean the oxidation and then some Maguires cleaner wax for final finish. The hatch cover looks good as new! It still has some pitting and scratches but it reflects the light much better.

I'm still looking for the gasket/seal for the bow ALUM hatch on my 28 express... (over the V-berth)...no glass in mine. It looks like an 1/8 inch slot?

What was the 'fine rubbing compound' you ended up using? I need to do the same thing before I put the Cruiseair portable air con back over the hatch.
