Anyone want two old alternators one needs rebuilding the other not sure changed both to a one wire alternator.
free you pay shipping some regulators also included not sure which ones work.
The port side stopped charging and I replaced it don't know if alternator or reg went bad just changed it.

For sale three distributors one is apart the others are complete extra pickups one has original springs were running when removed from boat.Extra control modules also make me an offer for all plus shipping.
I installed two pertronix billet distributors updated ignition by 30 years!
Will see if it was worth it!

Is one of those distributors for a reverse rotator 318/ 360? I have a friend in need of one.

Jeff

PS: Love to have a spare pickup (part inside the distributor) if you want to part with one. Here's a photo of one.

Ah, Bob, the distributors are NOT the same. Note the design of the reverse rotator one:

Jeff that is just a shim that removes and installs on the new distributor.I just replaced both distributors on my 1980 boat with two of the same part # I removed that shim / bushing and installed on the new one.
If for some reason that model is not a shim my distributor will not work. All distributors that I looked up online use the same part # for both rotations!

RV:

Very interesting. Other than cleaning and replacing rotors and advance springs I have left mine alone.

I have been giving some thought to the Pertronix. Can you post the part number of the Dist. you purchased and the site?

My boat is an 87 with 318's with Chrysler Electronic Ignition.

Thanks,

safe boating,
dave

Caution! Be sure to order all 12 volt stuff--no ballast resistor crap! You then toss out that prehistoric resistor and jumper across it. Easy to do.

Thanks RV!

I received notice of your E mails but when tried to log it I was denied. Guess there is a glitch in the system.

Thanks for the info. So far mine seem ok. Just wondering if fuel economy might improve with better ignition system.

Thanks Jeff.. always disliked the resitor junk and the external voltage regulator. Dumped the alternators and went with single wire years ago. They work so much better!

safe boating,

Correct. Only the crank and camshaft turn the opposite direction. Since reverse thrust tries to lift the oil pump driveshaft, that weird collar in the photo keeps it down where it belongs.

These distributors are not like the chevies you cant relocate the rotor by lifting and turning the distributor.
when replacing these distributors you need to watch the # one plug. The mopar distributor looks like a flat head screwdriver where it goes into the block.

Correct. They go in either right or 180 degrees out. Nice! Of course, the oil pump gear has to be aligned correctly or...
