I am thinking of replacing my stock alternators before I launch. I dont thing the stock ones will really be up to the job of keeping up with 1 4d and 2 G24 batteries.

The problem I am having is finding SB Mopar marine alternators. Are the Delco-Remy / SBC alternators the same mount. I dont think I will have any charging issues while spinning two 100amp alternators....

Probably not. Even altternators of the same make have subtle differences that don't allow them to fit.

How about getting your old ones rebuilt and stepped up a bit? Got a shop in Allentown, PA that does them very reasonably. You box 'em up and ship them. They do the rest.

Interested?

See the post for alternators/starters in the Vendors section of the forum. Both Judge Perry and I have used the vendor. Fast service, fairly priced

I just replaced both of mine with one wire systems from lighthouse marine great to deal with $169.00 plus shipping I think 10.00 did one last year and one a week ago I like how it cleans up the wires.
They are universal the one from last year fit the one from this year needed a new belt.
They both work great for me by the way these gm style alternators need 1000 rpms to start charging.

Careful not to replace the alternators with non marine alternators that do not have ignition protection. I replaced my alternator with arco marine new one wire alternator 61A output better than the 40A original. When you get a higher output alternator you lose charging output on the low end.

I, too, used the 61A, one wire Arcos. Easy installation and I'm very satisfied.

One caution on one wire alternators: They don't charge at idle speed. No big deal if you don't spend hours trolling. When in a no wake zone, I either run on one motor (throttled up enough) or drop into neutral now and then and blip the throttle to get them charging again.
