Where can I find a new port nav light
fixture? Mine is in the bottom of the Ohio.
West Marine or Defender does not show
a likely replacement.

Thanx

Ouch those aren't cheap! I just took my starboard one apart to clean the contacts and the plastic green piece was partially melted. Can you find just that part or piece of the light?

Dang it! I spun the plastic piece 180 and that seems to be working. I might have to spring for the whole light assembly at some point.

I replaced the ones in my '75 32' with new cheap ones from Hamilton Marine. I think they were

http://store.hamiltonmar...2-mi-146198/4,8209.html

and for the mast light

http://store.hamiltonmar...0-pt-146657/4,8198.html

and the stern light was in the transom, a good place for it since you would not want a light mounted on top of the deck there....

While we are talking about nav. lights, has anyone found a LED bulb that will fit in our stock lights. I've seen them for the stern light but not for port & starbord lights. Wayne

When I rotated the lens 3 times on my sailboat I dropped it in some red dye and got a couple more seasons out of it.
A real marina will be able to order replacement lens but I have a couple of the tear drop style side lights in my spare parts box.

I ended up putting a combination light on the overhead. It's 3' higher and can be seen over the waves more reliably.

I need to look for those LED replacement lights.

I have been looking for LED replacements, and have them for all the lamps on board but the nav lights. My nav lights are the little deck-mounted ones (see my post above) and they take a 1004 bulb, which has a small spherical glass envelope. All the potential replacements seem to be too big.

There's not a lot of advantage to using LED nav lights, since you only run them when the engines are turning, so power use is not an issue. Reliability is, tho, and I can see that the leds have the edge there.
