So I used to have some old school strap wrenches around but I think I lent them out and now they are gone. They would be great for packing gland adjustments.. Well I went to Harbor Freight today to get my infrared thermometer, which I did at @ 26.00 but the gal at the counter tried to charge me $36.00..Anyhow, they had a cheapo set of two, yes TWO strap wrenches while they last limited quantities only at $7.99.. Plastic handles instead of the cast steel ones I used to have and the straps were rubber instead of heavy duty woven nylon.. But I always thought they would be great for adjusting packing glands.. I'm going to try to find a couple sweet old vintage cast handle heavy nylon strap ones at garage sales.. I see them for a $1.00 at a many sales.. And I probably have two in the garage I can dig out.. But the HF ones were Chinese Cheapo like everything else there, and I think they would suffice.. And they are light.. And probably float..

Ace Hardware sells a plumber's wrench that also works. I think it's intended for drain nuts under sinks.
