I'm sure your frustrated with the response, but I'm sure once you have it made, people will be interested. I am. When you get it made, please let me know how much. I'm not in a hurry either. Thanks

Doug I would be interested in several lengths of new rubrail, probably the clear coated original looking material. If your still going to do this drop me a line and let me know how much we would be talking about $$$ wise. I think that Fedex will ship longer items than 8 feet.

Doug, I just caught your posts on rub rails. I bought my project boat without any rub rail, so guess what - I need enough for a 32 footer. Let me know how the process is progressing. I might be able to drive to pick some up on one of my trips up north.

I will be trying to get it anodized clear as the original but might be that option is no longer available. We'll see. Will likely be matt silver as with all newly produced aluminum extrusion on boats. I will be ordering it soon so as to have it available for very early spring. I am trying to give my boat new paint from the rub rails down before next summer and this is part of it.

I have not gotten around to ordering this but am wanting to get started on re-finishing the hullsides of my boat and this is part of that for me. If anyone else interested in new rub rails let me know.

You may wish to contact John Althouse. He may have an interest in stocking it for his restoration work?

I approved the print and placed the order for the new extrusion die yesterday, 6/22/11, for the new rub rail and it will be available in the near future. The option to have it "BRIGHT " anodized had to be quoted as the satin silver has become the normal these days. I will advise of total cost and a date when it will be ready when they get back to me. The last time I asked it was about a $1.50 -vs- a $0.50 per. foot upgrade but it does match our boats. They are quoting it. As of now I still have the option to alter the cut lengths. The maximun is 8' if we want the bright finish and 12' or maybe more in satin silver and up to 20' is no issue if we can take a mill finish and paint or clear it ourselves. Give me some opinions, I will have to decide, likely next week. Feel free to call or email.

We are definitley still interested. I'm not sure about the coatings though. For my part, I'm in favor of durable, good looking and easy to install. Let me know when you're ready to proceed.

Just wanted to get everyone an update on this. The new extrusion dies are done as of a couple of weeks ago and the rub rail is likely being run about now. It will still have to be sent out for the bright anodizing and is slated to be ready to pick up or ship on Sept. 2nd. I decided to order it in 8' lengths so as to be easily shipable for this first order. I will do some checking on the shipping tubes that it will have to be packaged into and try to finalize a price this week. Will likely will end up being between $500 and $600 to go all the way around a 32' boat. It will take me another week after recieving it as I will want to install a section on my own boat to insure there is no issues before I sell any to anyone else.

I am going to send out some PM's to those who have shown some interest here.

Thanks, Doug Doty...

Do you have a profile of this rail? My old 59 is missing a section on her stern and I want to possibly pull all of it off and replace it.

My first order has finally arrived. !!!!

I am still trying to figure out how to not loose money at this but for now I am a couple of days away from having shipping tubes available to start packing it up per order.

It looks exactly like the original only new again, it is clear anodized and available in 8' lengths only. I think I will be willin to make a special deal for the first few guys that want to buy enough to do their complete boat.

I am still waiting on some freight bills to come in so I can calculate my cost but believe I will be selling the 8' lengths for $65.00 each and a two pieces minimum to help keep it from being damaged in shipment.

I am a little flexible as I figure it out here at first so give me a call if you are interested. I'll post some pictures when I get to a desk top soon

Hey Doug, how is the rail on your ship? Where are you in Ohio? Was all of the rub rail the same for all of the models? Hopefully your rub rail will fit on my 32.

Thanks for the kind words.

It is made in the good ole' USA right here in the midwest and is the best I know how to produce. I have sold about 5 boats worth for complete re-fits and a few pieces here and there so maybe it will start showing up now and then in use.

My son is an Army Scout Sniper in Afghanistan and was "injuried on the job" so to speak, this summer so I have been mostly distracrted from the rub rail marketing hobby and not here on the site much lately. This caused the first order to just sit on a pallot for a good while before I could do anything with it, right after it first arrived. He is healing pretty well now so I have been getting back to normal and put the recurring ad on Ebay.

If you find yourself wanting some for your boat and have been following on this site since I first mentioned getting it re-produced, make sure and call me directly for a better deal than buying through Ebay on my ad there, they charge too much and I just take that off the cost. The basic ad is cheap and it keeps the word out to a big market.

Thanks, Doug Doty... 812 599 6281 anytime.
