Four years ago I paid $320 OR SO TO GET MY 32 EXPRESS SHRINK WRAPPED....I reused it the next season and covered my boat with a tarp the following two seasons...I was going to tarp it again, however the tarp I bought wasn't goning to get the job done....so I walked oer to the shrink wrap contractors office, the only one allowed in our marina, and aske how much to shrink wrap my 32 x 12 BigM ????

He punched numbers in his calculator and siad $440............I just about fell over....I whined and moaned for a few mins...and he finally aggred to do it for $400.

What are you guys paying???? Oil is down.......seems like a big price increase from 4 years ago...

Also, I should get 2 seasons out of the cover....

I have used shinkwrap, tarps, nothing and indoor storage. Indoor is best. Shinkwrap prevented me from checking out a marina's winterization and I lost an engine. My rookie tarp job blew away in the first November wind storm. I was left with nothing and the snow freeze thaw cycle tore up my fresh paint job. My second tarp job used a wooden frame work set up as low and tight as possible. It held up all winter and summer but the cheap plastic tarps were used up after one season. Now that both project boats are over a trailer I have the flexibility I need to find and rent reasonable indoor storage ($60 a month). That is what I will do until I build or buy a pole barn.

Truckers get big custom covers made for their trailers which hold up to wind and water at highway speeds. Has anyone ever checked out having one of these made for a Marinette? Defender.com sells connectors to make a tarp frame from electrical conduit.

I have a friend, who just passed away this Summer, who had a 42 ft. classic Matthews wooden boat, built in Sandusky, OH in 1950. He brought it back to Michigan from a guy Vermont. It came with a custom canvas, and a metal super-structure.

The canvas comes in three pieces and is zipped together for a very snug fit. It covers most of the hull.

Yooper,
If U ever decide to go with shrink wrap again U do know that they make a zippered access door ($24)that allows U enterance to interior of boat that can be used over again several seasons. After the boats been S/wrapped U get the tape 2"x180' ($17) place for easy access tape it on S/wrap unzip cut S/wrap & U can come & go as U please.Whistle

You'll have bad times, but they'll just wake you up to the good times you weren't paying attention to

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way.I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
