My panel came with two bilge pump breakers and two red lights, each wired to come on when its bilge pump comes on. I didn't see the need for the "on" lights, since I can hear the bilge pumps running.

I rewired it so that, if the breaker is tripped (or shut off) and the float switch tries to turn on the pump, then the red light comes on, as a warning that the pump should be working and is not.

I think that it is a good idea to use an unbroken piece of wire, soldered to the bilge pump and waterproofed, all the way back to the breaker in the panel.

Greetings all....I was reading thru this thread and I came across the "please dont sink my boat" switch's.
These Are NOT Switch's. They are "Airpax circuit breakers. all you need to do is look on the side and you will see the name "Airpax". These are rather expensive but very good breakers and the best thing to do is bend a piece of metal that will prevent the breaker from moving to the off position.
