We are considering a winter project to convert our 1967 32' Express from cable steering to a new hydraulic system so that we can install a electronic auto pilot control system. Has any one had experience with this sort of retrofit project? We are just now looking at the hydraulic vendor options along with the electronic controller options. Any assistance on the topic would be greatly appreciated.

Hello;
Type "steering" in the search menu of this forum. I wrote a note on pg. 8. Also Diver Dennisn has done a lot with his hydraulic steering. Lots of good winter reading in the search site.Eh?

I plan to install hydraullic steering on the flybridge, and retain the cable steering below. I have the parts, just not the time. I also plan to get an autopilot, which will be usable from the flybridge. I would also like to get the benefit of someone's experience with this, I have a fair amount of experience with hydraulic steering, having installed it on several boats, but none with an M.
