What is the largest diameter prop that can be used?
And what Pitch do most find that works for them?

I have 14" dia. By 10 pitch I think. Can only get to about 18 mph.
I should run 26 to 28 mph at Full throttle?

There are several variables. I’m sure U have the eng. tuned to a T. What is your WOT ? How
clean is the bottom? This will take some top end speed off. There is a formula for prop tip to hull
clearance some where here on the site ? I believe that year BigM only has 1" shafts they won’t take
to much more beefing up of the prop if there is enough clearance. AnyWho My ½ penny’s worth Whistle

I'm swinging 17 inchers on mine, but I have 1 1/4 " shafts and 1.52:1 reduction trannies. Since your props are 14 inchers, that would indicate you have 1:1 trannies.

Something is off if that's as fast as yours will go. Even with 318s, a 32 footer should top 30 mph--all things correct. My 32 footer, with the flybridge still on (360s), did 32 mph easily and cruises effortlessly at 20 mph.

The "usual suspects" (from one of my favorite movies) are: props out of whack (bent, wrong pitch, etc.), excessive growth on the bottom, carrying too much people and 'stuff' (you'd be surprised how all that junk adds up). bad tune on the motors (stuck spark advance), secondaries not opening all the way, miss-fire, not timed correctly, low compression, bad gas, collapsed exhaust hose(s), and a few more. All have to be tracked down.

With such a slow speed I wonder if he has 1.5 trannies, mine is 1 to 1 and I get thirty out of her by GPS, His prop say 1 to 1, but maybee....JAM
