I would like to put the same wood floor tiles that are in the head on the cabin floor. Can anyone tell me a source to look for them or any other product besides vinyl. Mike 28' Express

Do you have any pics of it installed in your cabin? What did you use for trim around the hatches in the floor?

Di'NMIKE, Don't have any idea of what you have in your head, but for someone who put 3/4" X 2" white oak flooring wood on my cabin floor , i couldn't be more happy with the results. In the head and under the table in the galley i used a laminate that matched up great. Easy to put down and really good against water since we are in and out plus all the friends who get on to get a drink or beer. I took the pixs off the site but if your interested I'll repost them on My Boat pixs. Mark No matter where you go,there you are. Knot Normal 28FT. Express Twin 318's Ten Mile Tn.

Shoot me your email and I'll send you a bunch. The material has a grain texture to it - feels a little like real teak, only very durable :) jsimanella attached the following image(s): -- 1987 32 Sedan Bridge Twin 360s, Rebuilt 2006 Modified/Original Electronic Ignition Raw Water Cooled Catawba Island, Ohio

I too am interested in replacing the worn carpet in my salon. I have looked at Marks wood floors and must say they look great! With the diesels I am not sure if it would not be better to stick with carpet to help reduce the noise. The floor has insulation under the carpet and we have an oriental rug that covers the main hatch and you can hear a difference when it is not down. 1981 37 Sedan Bridge Twin 185hp Volvo diesels, Props 19X19 four blade Twin 150 Galion fuel tanks, Twin 50 Galion water tanks 7.7KW Westerbeke diesel generator

Jeff, I've seen the pixs of John's floors and are the best i have seen yet. They would look great in your boat. As for the noise from your engines; sometimes you have to give a little for the look. They do have a better grade of insulation that you can install to help with the sound. Take your time and ask around and check whats out there. No matter if it takes a little time , make it yours. I installed reflectex under the cockpit sole (I have an express) and the noise reduction was impressive. I have gas engines but I would think it would help dampen the diesel noise as well. It was easy (well sort of) to install with a staple gun and has been in place for over a year with no loosening of the sheets. It is a bubble-wrap product with foil on both sides. It also is helpfull for insulating in the winter. Something to consider if you chose the thinner floor material.

I put reflectix behind each inside panel that I could - overhead and cabin walls. It cut the temp down by a bunch (Florida sun) and seems to cut noise. But, for diesels, don't screw around with reflectix. Get real sound insulation with a heavy decoupling layer (you can't get lead anymore) and do all around the engines.
