Looking to see if any of are members have any info on whether the Marinettes after being welded up were put into an autoclave for stress relief ? May have been to expensive for the company; probably just a rose bud torch. If anyone has a site or personal info on this , please post.

subject to the action of an autoclave a device for heating substances above their boiling point; used to manufacture chemicals or to sterilize surgical instruments.

Just Google "autoclave" for more info Dancing

No stress relieving was used, nor needed. The welders were ace aircraft welders who knew what they were doing.

It is my understanding, perhaps uninformed, that the marine alloys tolerate welding a lot better than the high-strength alloys - they are more malleable.
