Anybody had a 440 surge while in gear at idle? My port engine wants to surge just enough to be felt in the boat while idling through a no wake zone. Seem to run well enough at speed so I don't think I am picking up a cylinder when it surges. I am also seeing a lot of fuel in the water while warming up at the dock. What do you guys thing carb or misfire on a cylinder. Like I said it idles pretty smooth.

The usual. Two or more problems masking each other.

The tranny was low on fluid and not holding consistently at low idle speed but locking up at 16-1800 where we ran the boat yesterday. Didn't figure that one out until I got tied to the dock with no passengers today. Problem is, where did the fluid go? None in the bilge. Talked to T today and his guess is the tranny cooler is shot.

So, after I got the tranny full I dropped it in gear again while still tied to the dock. Now with the boat trying to pull the dock with it the miss is obvious and making the tranny chatter. I started pulling wires off the distributor cap and found one that made no difference at all. I checked the resistance on that wire and it was pretty high. So, wires, cap and rotor button will be here tomorrow. Working problems out 1 at a time. Just some times having problems identifying what the problem is.

What plugs do you guys recommend for 440s?

Capt. T was supposed to come by yesterday evening and help me get to the bottom of the problem. Instead T and his buddy Johnny jumped in my bilge and FIXED the problem. Plugs and wires it was. I still can't believe how smooth those monsters were idling with intermitent or no fire to certain cylinders. Idles a lot better now. And when I drop it in gear at the dock it's still nice and smooth. That's the big difference.

Now it's time to start decorating the boat for the parades. I'm gonna have to learn how to post pics when the parades are over. I allready have comitments from several M owners for one or both parades so hopefully I will have some really cool Christmas Marinette pics.

Capt. Chad,
May I suggest http://photobucket.com/ or Google pictures

They are both good for making web albums for you to share with all. All you do is upload photos to your account and drop a link on this site for us to click on. With issues on this site lately I don't think we can upload large photos here.

Have fun during the holidays ! Can't wait to see your pics.
