Need a source for the 120 deg. bow light that goes on the cabin roof. My plastic lense has been overheated by the wrong bulb from a po. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Wayne

Confuisus say "picture worth thousand words."

I assume you mean your running light (side lights), the red and green ones. They have a 112.5 deg arc from dead ahead to 22.5 deg aft of abeam. Bow lights would have nothing to do with navagation like stern lights, towing lights or anchor lights would. That is unless you have a 200'+ vessel and have two spars that would carry white 225 deg masthead lights, the fore mast light might be reffered to as a bow light, maybe. If you're boating at night and see these babies line up, one above the other ya better high-tail it out of there pilgrim.

I was able to get replacement lens for my Perko all in one "running" light. Over-spray speckled it and then some fool tried acetone to remove the specks.

My M does not use a Perko light. I have

and

for the lights, and HM can supply replacement parts. They take a 1004 bulb. Hope this helps.

as you replace a light, consider using LED's. They'll last longer, run cool and drain less power (not a big consideration if you are using them only underway..but less is more).

UPDATED AFTER READING DOUG's post below: Regarding power drain, that's what I was alluding to when I noted we use them usually only while underway so they are really not draining the battery. But I'm a fan because they ought to last longer. That;s just me. Where I definitely would go LED is the anchor light where a filament lite burning for 12 hrs will pull down a battery. I bought one that, by flicking the on-off switch in a certain pattern will 1- make the bulb go on immediately, 2-make it go off at sunup, 3- make it blink fast, 4-make it blink slowly, 5- send an SOS pattern. Pretty cool. Did I get my money's worth - nah, considering the number of nites we'ves spent on the hook since I put that fixture in. But the new owner will have to love it!

I don't mean to be argumentative, but I considered using LED running lights when I replaced mine, but I didn't because:

1) The running lights are only used when the engines are running, so power drain does not matter.

2) The only way to carry spares is to have a complete new set of running lights along. While LEDs are very long lived, the actual LED is driven by an integrated circuit, so there is a lot to go wrong there.

3) LEDs are pretty expensive, and a box of replacement bulbs costs less than a buck a bulb.

None of these arguments except maybe 3) apply to interior lighting, and I have replaced all my interior bulbs (along with the anchor light) with LED equivalents. The result has been a lot of extra battery left after a night on the hook. And, if I could find LED equivalents to the GE 1004 bulbs for the nav lights, I would put them in and retain the filament bulbs for emergency spares....

As an inspected boat I would worry about the goverment red tape as well. Vessels of certain sizes require varying brightnesses of their running lights. I do believe that the combined light we are talking about is a 1 mile light, the 2 mile lights have to be seperate fixtures for port and starboard. The larger vessels have a 2 mile requirement, small a 1 mile, and any messing around with the light source from the "USCG approved" setup would be frowned on. LED's are still a good idea and we are being forced to use them or CFL's in our homes by the same goverment but regulations state...
