So that is how you spell "Kimo Sobi"

My tank is full and that might be my season allotment. I do knnow that I will be hauling fuel to the boat 30 gallons at a time to avoid the additional marina gouging.

Most our marinas are at least 60 cents higher than land pump prices and they also get a motor fuel tax rebate which naturally they keep for themselves instead of passing the savings onto the boaters.

Same old story.

BigM do make great summer cottages!

Dave,

How do you get fuel down to the boat? Most marinas in florida frown on carrying fuel down the docks. Several guys I know carry a few gallons each trip "for the outboard" but 30 gallons is a lot.

Fortunately for me, diesel prices are more stable and usually run a little less than at the pump.

Doug,

Most marina’s do have a refueling bylaws Brick wall The reasons R obvious $$$$ than the safety factor. But than if one is a little cunning they can find ways too sneak fuel to their vessel Anxious The way I use to do it was in a converted Brewski barrel Whistle they’re made of S.S. or of late AL. On the bright side of it first U get to drink the Brewski Dancing than a little welding & Shazam a fuel container. At one port the Harbor Master commented on how much Brewski we drank & how well the BigM did on fuel so at least once a wk, I started putting in fuel at the gas dock before he wised up. Whistle

PS : Unless U a accomplished welder do not try this at home 4 apparent reasoning Shame on you

I have a sneaky suspicion that the 150 gallons of fuel resting peacefully in Mystic's tanks may get removed and put in my car!

Boat lives at marina fall, winter and early spring. After they bring water up I can moor at my private dock at home. No fueling restriction there except drain on wallet.

If gas difference is 75 cents more at marina then worth hauling. They sell only 89 or 92 at marina but my boat runs just fine on 87 except for the alcohol they started adding last summer!

BTW fuel jumped 10 cents a gal yesterday.

No point complaining at least I have a diesel car for long trips and it is averaging 45 mpg on hwy.

Wanda and i put some extra cash or change in the popcorn can during the winter to help out on fuel for the summer. Was putting in a new steering cable and knocked a large pipe wrench off , bounced off the exhaust hose and landed on my starboard packing gland and broke it. I checked them last year and seemed to be good.. Well the water poured in like a fire hose. Had to puller her out and there went the cash cow, right to the marina ; like they don't get enough now!! Put new in and did some other maint. Still afraid to look at the gas prices. I guess i'll get sticker shock when the time comes.

Look on the bright side, we the BigM owners aren't taking it in the shorts on massive depreciation of our vessels. We get better gas mileage than most (if you can believe that). The market for our retro boats should be great in the next couple of years Liar

I'm lucky enough to have about a 5 mile radius that I play in. (Land Locked)Applause A few miles out on one engine, float most of the day. One engine back to marina. Whistle

She bitched that it was getting stiff last summer; no comment* Been meaning to get up your way but have been delegated to a house bitch in the noons but i can straighten that out this week. Will give you a call soon and see what you have done to your boat.

Wayne, Glen-L Marine designs , ph# 1-562-630-6258 ... As you know there not many things cheap for a boat . The way i looked at it was the cable that was on mine was the original do to the paint they spray on that tar crap sound barrier. The old SteerMaster MKII is the make on mine but you need to check yours due to having a brigde . There is also a MKIII type. There is a picture of both on the site. Probably was used in most of the older boats. You will have a # ,the lenght , stamped at the top where it goes into the mechanical steering drum . didn't have to make any changes, fit perfect. Hell if it lasted 38 yrs. why not buy the same. the new Teleflex and Uniflex Systems have only warranty for a year and for sure will have to make a few changes. I guess i didn't anwser your first question cheapest place to buy... About the only place i found but I'm sure someone will have have some ideas .

Let's just hope it goes into YOUR car. Wanna bet we see an increase in gas theft? Unattended boats might be an easy target.
