OK, Jeff got me a thinkin' about dumping my Rochester. Something about better mileage caught my attention.

I see that the 1409 comes with an electric choke. Do you guys just wire it to an on/off switch or does your electric choke hook to a normally closed block temp switch like mine? I still have not found one for my GM 327 since it got lost after an engine re-build.

I wired mine to the lead that went to the old, no longer used voltage regulators. (I have one wires.) Any 12 volt ON only source will do, but DON'T use the coil power lead!

Just swapped over to "one wire" alternators yesterday (not by choice). I also used the hot wire going to the voltage regulator on Jeff's advice. You will need to make your own wire because the carb does not come with wire.

You will need about 3 feet of wire per engine, 2 ft for hot wire and about 7 inches for ground wire to carb base.

The hot wire to voltage regulator has a female spade connector, so you will need to make a male end spade for the connection. The carb choke also has a spade connector...can't remember if male or female.

Still haven't tested my elec choke yet, because my motors are still winterized Sick 10 more days before dewinterization Applause .

Trick if my boat sits for a week or two first start up is not fun. For the time it takes to get the carb full of gas it warms the choke to the point that it opens and the engine is still in a cold start state. So while you are wireing things I would put a on off switch in or at least a interupt switch. Only needed if boat sits longer than a week. I open my hatches on first start up just so I can check things out. So I unplug the choke hot wire while cranking and am sure it doesn't ground out you know spark not good boom.
