I’m looking for a reverse rotation rear seal for a 1987 360.
Kinda hard to find and I’ve been told the old style rope seal is the way to go at this point. Any one know of a source for the reverse rotation seal?
This is the last and biggest project to get the boat in close to 100 % function.<<< Knock on wood!
I did all the other stuff first and saved the big project for last.
The boat is useable the way it is but I don’t like the leaking rear seal, oil in the bilge etc…
Engine only has 700 hours and runs great with good oil pressure etc...

Thanks for any info

JB

I too thought that I had a bad rear main seal on my port 340 Chrysler engine. I was already to pull engine because of the oil in the bilge.Think Before I did I got down close to the side of the engine were the oil filter bracket bolts to the engine and wiped the side of the engine all around the filter bracket with paper towels, Than I started up the engine and watched the area using a good light. Sure enough there was a slight oil leak around the gasket. I got a larger socket and rachet and tightened up the large center bolt, I tightened it about an 1/8 of inch. The oil problem was fixed.Dancing That large center bolt was actually loose. It is worth a look if you havent tried it already.Eh?

I’ll try that.
It’s the starboard motor so I haven’t really checked that out well.
Kinda hard to get to as I'm not twiggy
Hopefully I’ll luck out and save a lot of work.
Fingers, toes, eyes crossed!

Thanks!

I called them before I put up this post.
They said they don't have them anymore and gave me number to call and the people at that number said rope is all that is around now.
Kinda looks like rope is the option now unless someone has a few on a shelf somewhere.
Thanks for the link though!!
