I'm ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT. All kidding aside I know what your dealing with. I went from a 24' fiber form f/b to my 32 fisherman ship. 8' beam to 12' when we got the call from the bank saying ok I almost had a accident in my shorts for 2000 miles till we got home and picked her up she's not the biggest boat on the pond but is my favorite.Angel

I am having trouble with the connection between the clip that holds the fuse to the tab where the wires are screwed onto. The rivet loosens and causes a bad connection. the meter will show 12v but not enough current will flow to get the work done. Same thing with some switches. They just can't build things to last. My boats are only 40+ yrs old!!Whistle

How do I add to this forum without clicking on "quote"? I can't find just "add" or "answer"....

Never mind - I just discovered "quick reply".

I would pull the whole thing out and give it a white vinegar bath (3-4hrs) before doing anything. Make sure to rinse it well afterwards. The backer board (bak-a-lite?) might have access to the rivet on the backside that will allow you to put a metal rod in a vise up against the backside of those rivets. Then you can hammer the top end it down.

You might want to try soldering the clip to the terminal to get a good connection. For old brass, you would want a strong acid-based paste flux. Just apply the flux, heat, and apply solder to the joint between clip and tab. I have "marinized" a lot of stuff this way.... Plumbers use acid flux, the usual electronic rosin flux probably isn't strong enough but is worth a try. Acid flux residue needs to be washed off before the item is used.
