1977 32 express crusier; Lemontini.
I am getting ready to work on the interior hull below the cabin floor. I think I want to seperate the two spaces by closing off the openings between the engine compartment and the cabin. Install a new bilge pump in the cabin section, 600 to 700 GPH. Then install another pump in the engine compartment, 3000GPH. Any thoughts other than already discussed in the forum? After I clean up lower hull area, how about replacing the black coating? With what and what was it for orginialy? any other material that I might use? Kenny

Hi Kenny,
Do yourself a favor if you get any of that loose tar crap off. Do not replace it. It was used as an undercoating to keep the noise down.[my opion is it dident work] It was like the ZEBART the used in the 60s and 70s. If you can get the loose stuff off leave it natural aluminum. Dancing . Thats my two cents worth.

As an old coastie I understand compartmentelising. Why elce do you want to close off bilges? If it was me I would leave a common bilge drain for n aft you don't want to fill any compartment 1/3 each and you can manage if you are gonna ×2 on all pumps ok but for me I like 3 compartments 3 pumps. N that's my 0.002¢
