Lots of them...,

1- editing posts - I turned this off for the moment until I correct the ability of members to edit/delete only their own posts and for moderators and admins to delete edit any. Sheesh. FIXED
2 - still about a hundred twenty people to enter back. You won't lose your posts. DONE FIXED
3 - generated passwords for the upgrade too ugly for many. Right now initial passwords are assigned for re-added users. Sorry first users you can change yours or contact me.[FIXED for most]
4 - drop offs and time outs - I think I know the setting to fix but have a higher priority.
5 - posting speed I need to correct this
6- JavaScript cookie delete for the signin patched with zapcooky.aspx
7- text message reception to shoutbox for 'I need help at the boat.' shouts
8- lat-longs for home port, tide station , tides and google map mashups

What I need is feedback (directly or through Fastjeff/ admins) and attempts to post by all users. This tells me your userid is ok.

Currently I do all the database and code corrections myself.

I also may need to negotiate with discountasp my ISP to correct performance issues. Also I am banning some foreign search bots that create 20+ users to index the site. Scanning every possible page 20 times a day gets banned. My yearly cost for the site is About 500 .

I archive monthly the database.

Joe -- as you go back thru the user base, suggest you consider NOT re-entering thos who've had a long time "membership" but who have never posted. save yourself the aggravation. If they want to come back as posters, not merely read-only that anyone can do,they can reapply. We could add a front page note telling them to re-up when you get to the point where registrations are allowed.

Not sure how much effort is involved in setting up lat/lons for home ports, but I see that as a low priority item. We all know where Paducah is and don't require the gps setting. TIde link is useful, not critical.

Don't understand #6.

#1 is most important. But that's why, I guess, it's numnber 1

keep up the good work. Oh, on costs, we will again offer to chip in-- betcha we could get close to 50 boaters to toss in a ten spot. It doesn't compute for me that you should have to shoulder everything, especially the cost.

can't deal with collections in a meaningful way. Will collect if I can incorporate as an nonprofit and contract out the site.

Jeez, Joe...you may be overthinking this...just get a 75-cent notebook and write down who sends in 10 bucks. An email thank you would suffice. Given that many boaters (including yrs truly) are notoriously cheap you won't get flooded with checks. and if one day, you decide to ditch it all and my ten bucks for that year go into the bit bucket...well, I have been known to waste more on a bad pastrami sandwich. Can't imagine why you need to establish a non-profit or hire a contractor. Too much effort in addition to the fine efforts you are already putting forth

Hey Joel,

I know what Joe H. is thinking that some of us El Cheapo from MI. might send him a 100 empty
Brewski cans @ 10cents ea.= $10 Think But I’ve been thinking at the price Aluminum I might weigh
10 cans to see if they’re worth more than a $1 @ scrap prices today. Whistle I hope all the newbie’s know that I was a great help in building their BigMs before they started the .10 deposit law in MI. Brick wall I’ve often thought of naming one of my BigMs “Recycled Beer Can” AnyWho my ½ penny’s worth Whistle
