I was changing my impellers today and found that I needed new hoses that run from the impeller housing to the transmission cooler. Anyone know where I can find hoses like this. It is on a 76 360cu in. Thanks mike

KARRAKMC,
I have used this site for parts , always seem to have what i need.
LIGHTHOUSE MARINE SUPPLY ... Web. address ... www.partsman.com Ph# 1-800-382-9335

Look under engines and then cooling hoses, check out ( Shields Flex 2 , series 250 ) then size.

Best bet is to find a car or truck parts place that has a reel of the right hose. Shop your busted one around. If you have to order, a place like Carquest here in the UP can get any kind of boat stuff in on their truck from Chicago in a couple of days. The new chains with a lot of Chinese crap are lame. You can't even get a tire gauge that reads right.

Be sure the hose you buy is a RUGGED, reinforced hose that won't suck closed on you. Remember, that's a "vacuum" line to the raw water pump.

Wanna know how I found that out?

Had a1959 Pontiac Bonneville (in 1967) that was overheating on me, and driving me nuts since all the usual fixs didn't help. I was a young squirt just out of college at the time and living in a rented room (read: no garage or tools to speak of). And I was working in Philly, in the heat of summer, and got stuck in traffic now and then on the Sure-Kill Expressway. Yuck!

One memorable night, while reving the motor from under the hood, I just happened to see that *^~~# lower hose clamp shut from vacuum. Eureka! Problem solved, and I've never forgotten it.

Jeff,

None of the hoses in a car have reinforcing wire, as far as I know. I thought that the system pressure (about 15 psi gauge) was supposed to keep the hoses from collapsing. Is it possible that your Bonneville cooling system wasn't pressurizing for some reason?
