I took Detour out for the first trip of the season this weekend. On the way back, running a little higher RPM's than normal (3,000) to beat a storm, my engine warning alarm began to sound. Oil pressure, temperture normal. Slowed to check things out; no unusual symptoms. Continued trip, alarm continued also. Are there reasons, other than oil pressure or temperature that might activate the alarm.
BTW - paid 3.85/gal (no ethanol). Not bad for the times. State Park, Pickwick for those of you close.
Thanks for any thoughts,
Jim

Mine only works off of the temp and oil pressure. When a low press or over temp occurs the sensor will close to ground, thus completing the circuit. I found out which sensor was bad by unhooking the wire to each sensor one at a time while the alarm was going off. When the wire is unhooked from the bad sensor the alarm will shut off.

I've had the same thing happen. There are two oil pressure sensors, one for the alarm and one for the gauge. My sensor for the alarm went bad and was giving false alarms.

Thanks for the thoughts. I didn't think other factors would cause alarm. I'll check sensors on next trip.
