I changed my impellers and had two 1/4 inch sections missing. so i guess i should flush the trans oil cooler - right?. do i just unhook the hose from the water pump. then run a water hose from the strainer to flush that direction. then i guess i could flush the other way to see if anything has built up from the strainer into the cooler.

Any other suggestions?

thanks

I don't think you'll find anything upstream. You might find something downstream.

Agree. I'd find it hard to believe impeller bits could go backwards--unless something was installed incorrectly. It certainly would not hurt to flush out the transmission cooler however.

Good luck.

One of my sea pump impellers let go this weekend Sick....and yes I did find parts of the impeller downstream toward the cooler. Took the hose off at outlet of strainer (salad bowl)...took the input hose to pump and held it in down position while Admiral sprayed water in reverse with hose end sprayer...saw a few pieces come out d'oh!

Flushing the trans cooler is easy. A bit of wire (hanger) can be used to clean it too. Assuming your strainers are okay there should not be too much in there.
