I found a series of numbers on the block at the waterpump side just below the head. Is there a way to determine what year the engine was manufatured? One of my engines has a clip on distributor cap and the other engine has a screw down cap. It makes wonder if the original engines have been replaced. The other reason is the wire harnesses are spliced at about 18 inches from the electronic ignition module. I bought this boat from a person that was not a very good shade tree mechanic and could not tell me much about the history of the boat. He picked it up in Michigan, but the previous registration is Ohio. The boat now resides on Lake Lanier Georgia.Think

Here’s a pic of Her when she moored at Bay Harbor marina on the Saginaw River in MI. I knew the owner some what & went for a ride on the Impulse once she ran fairly well at the time did need some cosmetic work & the owner toke her out on the weekends all summer long didn’t seem to have any problems. If I recall he told me he brought her up to MI. by water from Port Clinton OH. with little or no trouble. HTH Geezh that old girl sure gets around. On those engine # I think if U talked to a Chrysler dealer service manager he could fill U in on how to read them than U could post that info on the site for other members I’m sure they’d B interested. Thanks Norm, I wondered if anyone new her in her previous life. I have sinced gutted it to the shell and two engines. I will rebuild her all the way back up. It appears to have sunk at one time due to an orange dirt film on the back walls of the head. So i wondered if the engines got replaced after the sinking.
I'll check on the numbers and see what I can find out

Thanks Norm, it is a lot of fun and a great stress reliever for me. I have the flybridge in my basement garage ready for paint. I will post more pictures as it goes back together. I am thankful for everyone on the forum who answers my novice questions.Dancing

What ever U do don’t get the bright idea like I did to take it down to bare AL. unless U really want your stress level meter to go off the charts. Here’s a story on how it went well Normy had the F/B off for transport & decided while it’s off I’ll redo it. Well it started out with what I thought was going to be a quick sand primer & paint ? Well after a couple of days of sanding about 6/8 hr per day on the second day had a few Brewski’s to wash the dust down the old pipes, the idea light bulb came on Brick wall Hey why don’t I get this F/B powder coated sounds great so far called powder coating guy up sure he says about $4/$5 hundred, Ok I say be there ASAP. Load F/B on truck the old gent looks it over no sweat we’ll blast it prep it & coat it U should have it back in about 3 days. Whoopie !!! I get home there’s a message on the PH U better get back to the shop that’s all he said now over a hour drive of agony what happened. Get to the shop in the prep shed there’s this burnt F/B setting there he starts to explain that the emerom wasn’t coming off by sand blasting so they decided to heat the F/B in the oven to loosen the paint well in the possess the old fairing started to pop neither one of us even gave fairing a thought d'oh! Whistle . A long bickering preceded I’m PI$$ED he even more PI$$ED mostly at him self. Load it back on truck get it home drink about 12 Brewski’s pondering what next well back to sanding & heating the fairing that didn’t pop finally down to bare AL. than applying the new fairing a final sanding, etching, & priming than down to the paint shop which I should have done in the 1st place so the morale of the saga don’t out think oneself Shame on you Here's a few Pix of the possess If I can get them to upload Think I think it came out very well Anxious

WOW, Applause that looks unbelieveable. Unfortunately the Previous owner re-paint job failed and lifted the original paint and fairing. So I have to take it all the way to bare AL. The flybridge is sanded and it took about 2 weeks 2 hours a day after work. Plus an all day saturday in there some where. Anyway, I have to take the the topside to bare AL also, but it looks like the sides were not repainted. I am waiting till the fall (Georgia)to start painting. I'll try to post some pictures.
