My isolater starts buzzing when I turn on the hot water heater but not always? Do you guys think this means that I have a problem with my water heater?Think

My isolator buzzed when my dock neighbor (2 docks down) had a melted shore cord plug at the pedestal. It caused random buzzing.

Also buzzed when they were welding the marina retaining wall in front of the boat.

I believe the buzzer indicate excess voltage on the ground wire.

I would investigate all wiring for the heater. I have found melted wire/connectors behind the AC switch panel on my boat. New connectors fixed that.
Also check the wiring into the water tank if you can get to it. I think there may be an access panel that comes off the tank that should allow for connection inspection.

If the tank wiring looks good perhaps there is an internal failure of the heating element to the tank chassis.

Whatever the cause, it should be fixed asap.
Voltage on ground is a bad thing for health of boat and humans.

Weeeelll, I took the heating element out and found that it was split abot 2" long at the bend. I replaced it with a $14.00 unit and now everything is good in the worldApplause

You'll have bad times, but they'll just wake you up to the good times you weren't paying attention to

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way.I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
