I jump started the boat with a big Schumacher Se 4040 (235 amp) charger which killed the protector. No fuses blew and tue breaker did not trip. Always disconnect all 12 volt equipment before you use a "booster" like this. This is a common wheeled jump started for many marinas. It would be better if it didn't voltage surge, but anyone using this charger should be warned. It's not designed for boats. I expected the power conditioner to trip and not die, but .... Unzinced ships sink at slips. yep

Perhaps the unit is malfunctioning?? Too bad could did not measure the voltage while cranking. I like the 235A but if the voltage is out of control and ruins electronics on boat would it not do the same for a car?
