Both my red and green just cut out at the same time. I have a 75 37 sedan... When I pulled the lights to check the bulbs I found thre bulbs were good, so I need to track down a short. Got an avice on common places to look?

Also- My red lense is cracked/broken. Where can I buy a replacement lense?

Thanks

Does your white nav light on the back work? If not, check DC switches in the engine compartment if you have them...That got me one time d'oh! First place I went to, got lucky Pray Those switches get turned off when you monkey around in the bilge area Drool

Like Docs said, ck connections at switch, clean and volt meter to see it you are getting pwr at at and trough switch.

Good luck tracking that little grimmlin...Let us know what you find, even if it make you look like a dummy...we have all been there Eh?

My navigation light problems have always been in the light fixtures themselves. Rusted or corroded connections.

Most likely the switch as mentioned earlier but keep an eye on the bulbs especially the "festoon" bulbs. The glue at each end dries out and the metal cap separates from the glass bulb. If you use the nav lights frequently the heat will dry everything much quicker.

Look very carefully on what remains of the red lens. You may see a "fig" number if it is made by Perko. Many of the lights Marinette used were Perko. I've found replacements on Ebay from time to time. I know the buy new lights and fixtures from Perko is ridiculously expensive.
My green lens cracked, I used super glue to put it back together.

You can pull the panel apart and test the switch for voltage with a multimeter.

When I flip the switch the rear light comes on as does the front center light. Just now red/green. I have two little light up flashlights I use as spare nav lights. But I do need t fix this asap. Wouldn't that mean it isn't teh switch? Looks like I'm about to go on a search..

You are correct...can't be the eye pnl switch or the bilge switch.

I'm not sure how the nav connections are wired into the switch. May have multiple connections to one switch for all lights...not sure on this.

Good luck Sick

Found my problem. The two forward Nav lights shae one wire. This wire had rubbed against stuff in my forward birthing area where the bilge pump is located. Fixed the wire and fixed the problem.

Just a short comment, 'short' (pos. neg. wires directly touching with no 'load') wires will blow fuses/cb's, and 'opens' (due to corrosion, broken wires etc.,) just stop working. Sorry, just the electrician in me. Also, altho this wasn't your problem, our switches on these 'M's can be disasembled (carefully) and worked on internally, did it on one of my elect. opens. J. M.
