I am still flipping the coin of doing it myself or paying for a quality job. I have seen several Marinettes on the lake and wonder if any of their owners are members of the forum?

Try Leonard Kirkham (Shipwright), Buford GA 770-932-6474

He painted the 79 (link below) that I briefly had and while I've not seen as many Marinettes as most on this forum - I have seen a few. And to me, this was one of (if not the) nicest exteriors I've seen. The paint (Awgrip) was 7 years old in these pictures - note the nice job he did on the non-skid. When I purchased the boat - included was a $9K receipt for the paint.

I'm actually trying to locate another nice 32 right now, just went to Knoxville today to look at one and going to Louisville next weekend.

PM me if you want to chat more about this.

Thanks Clint! I am not sure but I think I remember that boat being at Aqualand Marina a few years back. I know I have seen it and it was the best painted one I have ever seen.

I think the Marinette named Broadway is at Sunrise Cove Marina. It still looks like a new paint job. Also their is a 1989 32 Fly Bridge for sale at Lake Allatoona for $27,000 It is in very good shape and looks like it has always been in a covered slip.

Joe,
I'm planning on looking at the one KYS has: http://www.yachtworld.co...mp;ywo=kentuckiana&

Have you seen it? Brokers are suppose to get me higher res pics tomorrow. I'll decide after that if it's worth the trip.

I looked at this one in Knoxville last Saturday: http://gallery.me.com/clint.summers#100766 Very nice boat and has 190 hr reman 'COMPLETE' engines and transmissions. The concern I have is the 3 year old paint is already cracking in some places. Broker says he has the receipt for the ~$4K paint job. In my opinion, hardly enough to properly paint the boat - likely not prepped correctly.

There's a 89 32 on craigslist (ATL). It's got a beautiful Imron paint job. Owner says he has a $16K receipt from 99. Unfortunately the boat has been outside for the last two years. That and the asking price doesn't seem quite inline with the market.

Regarding the Marinette I owned - Broadway. Yes, the fella I sold it to did take it to Sunrise Cove.

I finally got some paint on my project 32' boat. What made it very tough was trying to do the job outside. I hired some help by the hour and pitched in myself. We worked on a lot of other stuff the boat needed. It is ready to launch just in time to be stored for the winter. I have a 28' that also needs paint. It will fit through a 14 x 14 door so if I can get it inside I can get it painted a lot easier. I want to sell the 28'. I don't think I would get my money back out If I had professional boat painters do the whole job. I made a lot of time wasting mistakes that I don't need to repeat on the second boat.

Joe, I've got a deal working on the KYS boat, going up Friday - having survey and haul-out done Saturday. Peter Droppleman is doing the survey and Dan Darling is doing the haul-out at the Darling Yachts boat yard. Darling painted the boat and has been doing the maintenance on it for the last several years. Peter had the Marinette dealership in Louisville. Smokey of 'Smokey's Marine' is doing the transport and rigging.

You said you may paint your boat yourself? I just painted my bottom at Aqualand Marina Self Service yard. They no longer allow you to spray at their location. So unless you can trailor your boat you are stuck with Holiday or Port Royal. I am at Sunrise Cove Marina. We have 5 Marinettes here. Where are you at?

I have not seen Broadway at Sunrise in a while. I must have missed it somehow. I am at the end of C dock at Sunrise. I am the only Marinette on C dock. Most of the others are on D dock. We should put a Marinette "Lake Lanier Group" together on this form.

Broadway was rechristened "Wide Awake" by the new owners who said the name describes their first night trying to sleep in an aluminum boat. It's still at Sunrise Cove at the end of Dock D.

We've got five Marinettes on Dock D: three 32' FBS (WAHOO, Wide Awake and Red Baron), one 32' Fisherman (Explorer) and one 37' FBS (Independence). Plus Joe's Marinette next door on Dock C. We're approaching cult status.

Joe,

Yep, we're close. Had a scheduling conflict so I had to push-back the haul-out and survey until next Friday. Had the compression check completed yesterday - no issues. Transport from Louisville is $2600 (includes permits and rigging). Flybridge does not have to come off, only the windscreen.

Dave,
Does "Wide Awake" (aka Broadway) still have the same owners - can't remember their names but - he's a minister. Same folks?

I think that's a great idea to have a Lanier Marinette club. Just from my travels around the lake I think I have seen at least 10.Dancing

Clint,

Wide Awake (Broadway) still has the same owners. Russell is a minister and his wife's name is Deborah. Great folks.
