Anyone out there know how to download music (classical) from U-tube and then SAVE it as a MP3 so I can play it in my car?

Thanks,

Jeff

A glitch has developed; the converter requires the U-Tube file to be downloaded and saved to my PC before it can be converted.

How is THIS done, please?

Jeff,
Download the file. then its finished a box will come up that will say (save or install) . I click install which puts it to your installed programs. That way it is ready when ever you are going to download a song. I use Cnet alot for their free programs to try out to see if i like them. If your not happy you can go to your ..control panel... Click on add or remove programs and delete it. Hope this helps..

Still having problems. Still getting a "file does not exist" warning from the converter program. If I click on hte saved file, it just links back to U-Tube to play it.

Here's a method recommended to me by another musician friend..

-Get and install the free audio editing program "Audacity" -- easily available on the web.

-You will import to and save MP3's thru Audacity.

-Using a short stereo cable..with Audacity running...take the output of your sound card to the Line In input on the card. In other words, you will be recording what you play normally thru your speakers. There should be no significant quality loss.

-Instruct Audacity to begin recording (with Line selected as input). Stop Audacity at the end of the tune and save it as MP3 file. With some experience, you will be able to trim excess audio from the beginning and end of the file.

It is possible that the feature I just described is a built in Windows Recorder feature. Check it out (obviously, I haven't).

(what kind of music are you trying to capture? Any particular style, artists? Beethoven, Elvis, Al Gore, rap, hip-hop?)

Classical! (I'd delete anything from Evil Al.)

I've been using Audacity for years, but they removed the Line In function years ago. (Lawsuit?) I'll try it, though.

Thanks,

Jeff

J: they must have put it back..I just peeked. Look at the pulldown box to the right of the volume controls at the top center of the page. I need to get up to speed on Audacity for the stuff I capture on my new digital recorder (Zoom H2), maybe I will call you so I can get coaching! Meanwhile, when Al was over for dinner the other night, he said he got the feeling you didn't appreciate his hard work on the environment, but understands how there was a little room for disagreement.

That pull down box on mine is blank since I reloaded Audacity a few years ago. I assume you have the original version. Wish I did!

I have 1.2.6 which is the latest official version. ANd you can still download it. They are now beta testing 1.2.13. From the Audacity web site:

Audacity® is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. Learn more about Audacity... Also check our Wiki and Forum for more information.

The latest release of Audacity is 1.3.13 (Beta). This is our active version with the latest features and fixes. We recommend this version for more advanced users, and for everyone on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Mac OS X 10.6/10.7. Documentation and translations into different languages may not be quite complete. See New Features in 1.3 for more information about the 1.3 Beta series.

Audacity 1.2.6 is our main release, complete and fully documented, but no longer under development. You may install Audacity 1.2.6 and 1.3.13 on the same machine.

Meanwhile, Al told us that he borrowed your hummer after a great visit at your place. He thought you were getting with the program. Maybe just not the program of choice.

One more mystery: To download from You Tube there's a box at the top right side above the videos to choose from that you need to use. For some reason. I can NOT get that box to come up! (The videos to choose from go all the way to the top.) I tried every possible button and items in the drop down menus to no avail.

Anyone know how to get the box to come up? I'm dead in the water without it.

Read This Tutorial Before You Go On...
1. Copy & Paste YouTube URL to the left text field. One URL per line.

2. Or type any keyword and hit search, then drag YouTube URL to the left text field.

3.Select convert type. You can choose mp3, wav, m4a or wmv format.

4.Change your saved folder as you want. (Note:Some friends report "can't convert with long folder name" bug, but I have no such bug in my all 3 computers, so I have no idea how to fix it yet. So my friend, if you can't convert, please set the folder name to the short name with no spaces or symbols, Or just simply NEVER CHANGE THE DEFAULT FOLDER. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience you may have faced.)

5..When you get ready, just click "Get/Convert" button and wait for video downloading. Enjoy.

6. Just goto your saved folder, and sort by time. You will find the newest downloaded videos and the converted MP3 files.

7. Send your comment just by click "Post Your Comment" button
