Hit bottom and took out port rudder and damaged prop, starbord seems ok, haven't pulled out yet to determine actual damage. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks! (1990 Express w/ 360s)

I bought a boat with a bad vibration at higher RPM. Turned out the shaft was bent, the bushing was brass not the right non-metalic and the strut didn't fit right. The boat yard had the shaft straigtened. I got a new strut and bushing from John Althouse. What I had bought was a boat with a completely screwed up repair. Your rudder can be hammered straight. Props can be fixed by a specialist.

Looks like the rudder post is bent back. HEAT with an acetylene torch and restraighen )out of the boat or the bushings will be cooked). Can't see the prop damage.

For sure rudder or rudders are bent. Like Jeff said out of water not a real big deal, remove and can be straighten.
As for the props , you surely need to have them checked. Kind of looked like there is damage when pic is enlarged, but hope not.

While you have the props off, you may as well pull the shafts and have them checked for straightness, they will vibrate if there is any deviation. Jack

To show the prop better, I've added a couple more photos to my last post and one to this post. Is the rust on the rudders norma1? I haven't seen my boat out of the water in person yet, but I wonder if the stuff on the bottom of the boat is corrosion blisters or barnicle growth? - How would you test for bent shafts? Repair and replace the props and take it for a spin?

Rust on the steel rudders is common and I don't see the condition of your sacricicial anodes on each rudder, they should be clean, not painted over and you can repaint your rudders easily. Remember sand and prime IMEDIATELY after finishing with the sandpaper, followed by about 3 coats of barrior and then bottom paint. If it's corrosion you might try to pop one or more of the blisters to see if it goes dirrectly to the aluminum, if it does, much work, if it doesn't that's good news. The corrosion (pitting)on the props is from cavitation and common. Bent shafts are easy to check for, place 2 straight edges perfectly horizontal and see if the shaft wants to roll to the same resting point each time, if so it's bent, this is not expensive to have fixed either. Your props look like a pro should repair by welding and rebalancing tho, and I paid 200 bucks each for mine to be done. Go to to John A's website for the proper prop pitch for your boat (approx. 14x11 if you have 1 to 1 trannys), your prop guy needs to know what exactly you need to give you maximun performance. Jack.
