I have been thinking about reworking my flybridge. ( don't read fastjeff). I was going to put carpet down & take out the one bench ( express model has smaller flybridge). I was thinking about using nice padded folding chairs . One for the captain & two for family. I would like everyone's thoughts if you think this seating would work seeing that it would not be bolted down. Keep in mind that we do river boating & the worst we see is someones wake. I use my lower helm most of the time anyway. Thanks, Wayne

I would re-think the carpet idea. They trap moisture (not good for the painted surface) and dirt. Unless, that is, you can arrange to roll it up between uses. You could fasten it with some snaps to keep it in place and which would allow you to take it up for quick storage. Chairs: no matter how good the stitching, the padding will get wet and raunchy...so, if you use them, fashion a waterproof cover (Sunbrella or vinyl) for them. Easy to make---just stitched along three sides.

I'll have to look in the garage but I think I have a pair of padded chairs left from my boat sale. They are the sturdy ones with the double legs. Cushions good shape (we always stored inside the boat), aluminum needs light sanding. Let me know if you are interested via PM or email.

Dependo,
I have carpet on my flybridge and it hasn't been a problem, but it is pretty well covered by the bimini. I don't know about the loose chairs.

We used 3 folding chairs on the bridge with no carpet up until I got the bench seat fixed. It worked fine. We're on the river also.

Loose flybridge chairs would not be safe. I got some inexpensive chairs from Amazon. Prime members get free shipping. Finding sliders with the right diameter post holes was harder but I got some. My seat posts were permanent. It would have been a bigger mess to take them out than to find seats that fit.

We used a carpet on our cockpit deck all summer and are delighted at how well it worked. After pulling the rug up for the winter, the painted aluminum looked just fine--and it got wet regularly this summer (think Irene and etc.)

Stan, I will let you know on the bench seat.
Fastjeff, Thanks for the input on the carpet and not giving me a hard time for having a flybridge. Wayne

If he gave you a hard time, Wayne, I'd be there to back you up. Ordinarily brilliant and clear-thinking, FJ has a mysterious chink in his thinker when it comes to flybridges.

On my 32fisherman I took out the bench put in a single pedestal. It made much room. For guests they get a bucket or fold up works fine. In 3 to 4s they got to hold on . 5 to 6s I'm the only fool top side getting a shower lol
