Any feedback on trouble free carburetors. I am in the process of an engine rebuild of a chrysler 318 and just want to do things once, so I am retiring the Carter and want to upgrade to an electric choke, trouble free carburetor. Any suggestions? Manifold is now a Weiand 8022 with a wedge to compensate for the angle of the motor.

I put Edelbrocks on mine. Plug and play. Got them from these guys. http://www.nationalcarburetors.com/marine/index.html...Best price I found.I would say most of todays carbs are trouble free if you take the necessary steps to make them trouble free.

Never let gas sit in carb for more than a couple of months.
Have a polishing system installed.
Keep fuel filter changed.

Chickencooker, as Trundrarules commented the 1409's are a good option. Since getting rid of the Carters have never had a problem ; have electric chokes and have helped with the gas mileage alot. Fast Jeff has a thread here on the forum as how to tie in the pcv. Check .. search.. I'm sure he will repost if needed.
