I'm planning on using a set of GM style HEI. distributors mfg. buy ProComp. These distubtors cost 119.00 dollars and seam to be a simple stupid up grade to clean up my chrylsers. I have all ready installed the GM single wire alternators. I have done this once before with my 350 mercurser in a 79 searay, with good results. I first installed a 15amp ignition switch and a 10 gauge ignition wire. Next thing was to remove the vacume advance and Lab metal the hole shut. I did not vent this distubtor, I have run this boat for about 10 years and about 60 hours with no problems. The folks smarter that me tell me that there is a ion gas that is formed inside the cap when running and should be vented. To think of it most automotive and marine disturbtors are vented. So I am thinking about removing the screens from my old distributors and fitting them to the ProComp units. So i'm going to the moutian to seek enlightment. I will also be replacing my mechanical fuel with electrial pumps soon. procompelectronics.com, 6000 series distributors
