Is anybody using the iNavX Marine Navigation By GPSNavX. Santa wants to get me this for Christmas but I have some reservations on how good this app. is?
Reading the reviews helps, but I've read some questioning the abilities of zooming in using a NOAA map background. Thanks for any comments or advice.
Merry Christmas to All. Still looking for Chesapeake Bay Marinetters to get together with in 2012.

My personal choice is Navionics. I have used it for about a year on river, lakes, and Lake of the Woods in Canada. The detail was amazing Works on IPOD IPAD and Androids.

Have a Merry Xmas and Happy Holidays

safe boating,

I have navionics on my iphone and could not be happier. I made a trip from Kentucky to Tarpin Springs Fl and it was the only GPS on the boat. The only problem was it slowed down when out of cell phone range crossing the Gulf. My 28 singleBigMmade the trip fine but a little rough at times.

I put the boat in a stack at Tarpin Springs and plan to go back and tour FL in Jan. and Feb. Hope I can run into some Marinete owners while down there. My boats name is Little Toot which was very fitting in the big water.

Again I would recomend the navionics app to anyone. I wish they sold the same app for a PC but I understand it is a lot more complicated where the app is a simple download and only $9.99. Anyone who has experience with navionicn on the PC I would be interested is knowning more information.

John,
Are you going to do the whole loop? We made that trip last year & are currently in Cheasapeake, VA.
Plan to contine the "Loop" at end of April or early May. Best of luck to you in your crusing.

Rodger,

I have not decided on the loop yet. I plan to go across FL and down to the Key's then up maybe to Jacksonville and look for a place to put my boat in a rack. I understand gas is a problem on some parts of the circle, but would love to try it.

The only fuel problem area I know of is on the Mississippi & Ohio Rivers from "Hoppies"( about 25 miles South of St Louis) to Green Turtle Bay in Lake Barkley. We used 124 gals of diesel which includes some gen set time. I think the distance is about 240 miles. Our average is about 2 miles/ gal running one engine at 1500 to 1800 RPM for 8 knots.
