It has been to quiet on the forum past 2 days. spring is just x# days away. Winter time I keep busy with repair & improvments. I changed to all led nagavation lights like some of you have but not impressed with the brightness with the transom festoon bulb. Any suggestions?

You could try a brighter bulb but risk melting the lense/fixture. I had that problem with the little light over the sliding doors. The fixture melted. I think the transom light fixture is stainless but the lends may get damaged.

All the talk about LEDs has my interest. I have had the worst luck with those festoon bulbs. The glue on the end caps seems to dry out and the caps come loose causing random bulb failure.

Must admit that I've become a fan of LED lights (but not those God-awful compact fluorescent things). Tossed out my old mini Mag Lite for an FED job I got FREE from Harbor Freight, which is a LOT better.

Wayne,
Where did you buy them at? On line or at one of the marina's? I'm thinking about changing to the LED for bow and stern but your comments about the stern light will make me take a look. The old Perko really does a fine job.

Thanks Wayne; i have been checking on line, sure a lot too look at. Have seen a few up here on sailboats but didn't think the bows were very bright. Thats why i asked. The stern doesn't bother me as much as the bow, like them bright up front. I guess i'll make that a March project, got a little wireing to do then.

Check with Quality Marine Elecronics. I have no personal interest, but I bought Led lamps at Chicago Boat Show from these guys & they are cheaper than others.
their Ph # is 616-283-9898 they are in Saugatuck, MI I think what you need is called a "Feston" bulb, about 1" long & 1/4" dia.
