I want to upgrade the engine wiring for my 2 chryslers power plants. I will be running 10 gauge wires to my new procomp disturbtors if one does not already exist. So does any one know what size wire are going to my existing elctronic ignition ? Second I am going to install two electric fuel pumps using an oil pressure switches to control it and the ignition switch as the master sw. [ switch controls power to oil pressure switch ] . Their will be a momentary contact switch to assist priming for start up . Third , my alarm system has been disabled I have a few mystery wires around the back of the engine. What I would like to acheive Is to clean up all that spare wiring and reuse what I can, everthing looks OEM so it had a purpose. I could use help trying to figue just what new wires should be pulled. Jeff , your alarm relay system it could all be kept behind the dash board if I understand your diagram correctly ? Could there be seperate port , starboard warning lights with a common audio alarm ? I live 1 hour 20 min. from my boat so I need to have a good plan to prevent the 3P's [piss pore performace]. So any suggestions any knowlege of that wiring harness for the engine would be very helpful. Thanks BigM

I have a factory stock 32' Marinette and a 28' with messy wiring. When I had an engine replaced in the 28' the mechanic left out the engine alarm sensors. He also cut out the engine harness plug which connects the engine wires to the console. There was a hanging label attached to my 32' engine wires showing this plug and the color coded connections. I made a copy and attached it. There is also a wiring diagram in the owners manual scan which is somewhere on this site and Dougrose posted a lot if good wiring info here showing his modifications.

This spring I will use my factory stock 32' as a model to clean up the wiring on my 28' and get my engine alarm back. This was on the back of the attached plug tag.

ENGINE WIRING HARNESS COLORS
PURPLE--------- IGNITION
LIGHT BLUE---- OIL PRESSURE
YELLOW/RED---STARTER
GREY------------(–) COIL (FOR TACH)
TAN-------------WATER TEMPERATURE
BLACK----------GROUND
RED-------------BATTERY

Hard to tell from my scanned copy of the wiring diagram but I believe those wires are only 14 gauge.
Look under the plastic cover for the rear of the motor and you should see a copy of the wiring diagram
plastered to the underside of the cover.
