I am getting ready to install new navigation lights, on my 32' 1985 FB SedanBigM .

The masthead light was raised type. By the Fed Regs the masthead should be 1 meter higher than the running lights. I would like to have a flush mount masthead but it would not pass REGs. I have not measured but it looks like the masthead light would need to be 12" tall if mounted in the stock location.

I can get the exact type of running lights that were on the original. I am not impressed with the visibility of the original type. I am looking at a type that has greater visibility.

The anchor light I am looking at a LED replacement.

My stern light is in good shape, I am not going to replace.

I was wondering if any one has changed their navigation lights or any suggestions.

Just replaced the nav lights on SI. The Perko mounting holes were the same as the original ones.
Last year the anchor light was upgraded to an LED model.

It appears that your masthead light is ubstructed by some equipment. (The black cover on something is that radar?or something else) Either way the masthead should be unobstructed so would require being higher to clear the obstructed arc.

I have the flybridge model 32'. I used nav lights like the Perko but made of stainless (a must in Florida) rather than the plated zinc or whatever that Perko uses. I got them at hamilton Marine.

I made a short mast to mount above the windshield just in front of the flybridge. It is out of the way there, can't have a mast because I have a dingy on the cabin top.

I bought some BA9s LED bulbs on ebay that work well for the Aqua Signal 20 Series anchor light that I have. I am going all LED for anchoring.

LEDs have two advantages: low power and long life. Low power means nothing when the engine is running, and spare incandescent bulbs are cheap. At anchor, you are paying for the battery that lights the bulb, so LEDs make sense.
