Hello All,

I was browsing the "My Pictures" folder the other day and came across the pictures of our ceiling raising project for the "boat house". Thought you might enjoy seeing what was involved.
Before we bought our BigM careful consideration was given to the overall height of the boat on the trailer. The fact of the matter was, would it fit into our existing quonset hut?

It was determined that it would fit but major changes would have to be made. These changes included removing all the panels and insulation, cutting 15 ceiling joists (double 2x6s), raising the joists up, reframing the joists ends, reinstall the panels and insulation, cut the metal for the door opening, and install new door and opener. Took us a month to complete.

Used the tractor bucket and a frame to handle the joists. The old height was 9 ft 5 in. The new height is 13'.

Where there's a will.............................................................there's a way.

Dennis do you trailer the boat year round or just for winter storage? Also what brand is the quonset hut? I am getting ready to build a new barn on a recently purchased piece of property and I have been looking at the huts. Insulation?

We trailer from May thru October here in mid Michigan.
Not sure about the manufacturer of the hut. It was built in the early 80's.
