I am still plucking away on my project. BigM
The Upper Helm cable is frozen. I am going to replace it before I put my engine back in.
I removed it, cannot find a replacement cable, which I expected anyway having replaced helm assembly on other boats.
What I did not expect is the rudder end, threaded clevis and threaded conduit is no longer made.

I am going to have to install a new mount and a clevis adaptor for the industry standard type.

Has anyone recently replaced their upper helm cable or assembly?

How may turns is it lock to lock?

I counted my lower helm 2.5 the replacement helm that was recomended by Teleflex is 4 turns.

FYI the upper helm cable on a 1985 32' sedan is 25' long.

I post pictures when I finish the install.

If you perceive that there are four possible ways in which a procedure can go wrong, and circumvent these, then a fifth way, unprepared for, will promptly develop.
