Bent Rudder shafts?

I removed my rudders from my 1990 32 Sedan to have the steel upgraded to stainless.
The shafts are bent- both appear the same. Is this correct, or did I hit something (they have operated fine)? I hope you ca see in the pix:
Anyone know?
Thanks,
Bud

Hello Bud.
On my 32' and 37" the shafts are straight. Both 1975 boats. :)
Hope this helps.
Stainless is a great way to go.

ps When you get a chance how about adding a signature to your posts:

Bill, I don’t think why my signature is not showing up. I have checked both the boxes to do so.

Shafts are supposed to be straight.

It goes without saying but be sure to duplicate the shape of those rudders close as you can.

A lot of engineering goes into those to make the steering (which if excellent on Marinettes) work that well.

Thanks Jeff, Do you agree that those shafts should be straight?

I found a few pix of my former boat's bottom and, while the angle I observed isn't really great, it doesn't seem to show a bend in the shaft. How both of yours would be bent is rather mysterious especially since you don't recall hitting anything.
I do recall that the blades were pointed a bit off center for a reason (to improve steering, I think) but I could be imaging that. It's been a while since I boated.
Jeff?
